oh my god so I went to a surprise birthday party tonight for my two friends and yay they were surprised whooop

except during cake eating time this guy and I legit got into a screaming fight about the Hunger Games. He said how nothing was original and it was all based off of history unlike Harry Potter and they’re both my babies but I talked about how JKR didn’t really invent anything herself and took from mythology and all this shit and we ended up yelling at each other as the parents watched on

He kept saying how the Hunger Games was a stupid series and since he was an intelligent person he wasn’t going to waste his time on them, so I asked him if he ever took a chance and he said “I read the first three chapters.” I went back with (calmly now tho so just a normal voice), “How do you know it’s stupid, then? An intelligent person, as you say you claim to be, would take a risk and continue reading. They would recognize the good and the bad and would be able to set aside their stereotypes to further their education” and boy did he shut up HAHAHA
